Read the rules for this countdown here.

It was fun creating this countdown. Kudos to all youtube uploaders who (illegally) uploaded the OPs and EDs at the risk of their own lives. An anime countdown without visuals just isn’t very fun.

I might remake a new version of this countdown in the future, when I feel like that I have watched significantly more shows so much so that I can replace most of the ones on this countdown.

TOP Anime OP ED Countdown #1

Baccano! OP

“Gun’s & Roses” by Paradise Lunch

used as OP for episodes 1 – 13.

Jazzy, flashy, and catchy. An opening that subverts my opinion of anime openings entirely. It bluntly shakes a middle finger at all conventions for anime opening and redefines awesomeness.

Guilty Crown OP 2

“My Dearest” by supercell; performed by Koeda

used as OP for episodes 2 – 12.

I found love right after the beginning of 2nd episode of Guilty Crown. Love for music, that is.

Also worth mentioning is:
3rd OP “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” by EGOIST; produced by supercell; performed by Chelly
1st ED “Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~ (Departures ~あなたにおくるアイの歌~)” by EGOIST; produced by supercell; performed by Chelly
2nd ED “Kokuhaku (告白)” by supercell; performed by Koeda.

HERE is “My Dearest” official release.

TOP Anime OP ED Countdown #3

Clannad OP

“Megumeru ~cuckool mix 2007~ (メグメル~cuckool mix 2007~)” by eufonius

used as OP for episodes 1 – 23.

In case you haven’t watched Clannad and still dare to call yourself an anime fan, run to your nearest computer and watch it right now!

Never has simple character-name introduction been so emotionally touching. What do you get when you combine perfectly remixed soundtrack and perfectly coordinated animation? The answer is, surely, Clannad OP.

*I debated with myself for the longest time whether to use Clannad OP or Clannad AS OP, and decided to go with the former.

TOP Anime OP ED Countdown #4

K-ON! OP

“Cagayake! GIRLS” by Sakurakou Keion-bu (Aki Toyosaki, Yoko Hisaka, Satomi Satou, Minako Kotobuki)

used as OP for episodes 1 – 14 (including OVA).

Surprised? Outraged? Trolled? Angry? Pleased?

When I said I love voice actresses doing the recording for OP and ED, you guys should realize that a K-ON! song would be high up on the list.

No matter what you think about K-ON! (for example, I generally dislike pure comedy and moe), K-ON! OP is a perfect reflection of its anime: cute girls doing cute things and making some music if they feel like it.

Also worth mentioning is the ending “Don’t say ‘lazy'” by Sakurakou Keion-bu, and in the second season, opening 1 “GO! GO! MANIAC” by HTT (Houkago Tea Time).

TOP Anime OP ED Countdown #5

Angel Beats! ED 3

“Ichiban no Takaramono (一番の宝物)” by karuta

used as ED for episode 13 (the same song, sang by Girls Dead Monster ft. LISA, is used for episode 10).

Do you really think that I would forget Angel Beats!. While the OP “My Soul, Your Beats!” is most widely used in fan MAD, and the main ED “Brave Song” is more widely known, there is no question as to “”Ichiban no Takaramono” being the most emotional. Plus, this ending … hold on, I am going to cry for some times.

** Cropped and put on youtube by none other than myself. Enjoy.
